Ask HN: What path would you recommend for learning Machine Learning?

I have been into Machine Learning a bit but haven't really been able to find an ideal path that I could follow to become good at it. All I ever did was take part in Hackathons, use python's scikit-learn library for different in built algorithms, and compare the results. This feels quite blant. Could you guys recommend some place where I can learn about all the different algorithms and apply them from the scratch? Tutorials, blogs, or any other readings as well as videos are welcome.
