This is @ least the sixth time that this article has made the front page today and then been flagged off. This is the third time that this phenomenon has happened in recent days, previously:
- Peter Thiel to Donate $1.25M in Support of Donald Trump (nytimes.com)
- Fuck You Startup World (medium.com)
It seems that HN software's duplicate detection needs to take into account previously flagged articles (if it doesn't) or be improved, e.g. compare the title and a subset of the URL (to account for UTM variables, medium's #anchors, etc.) to those of previous article submissions.
Or revisit what it takes to flag an article off of the front page.
