Ask HN: Why don't open source projects show ads on their readme pages?
I see a lot of projects closing down due to lack of time/funds. Why don't more projects take sponsors and display a banner on their readme page.
For example Vue.js generates 10k/mo with sponsors: https://github.com/vuejs/vue

Thanks to this solution we've had more money to work on this and other OSS projects.
Have you ever been approached to sponsor another product/company? Under what terms would you accept?
As for sponsoring other products/companies - we'd need to see if it's aligned with our goals and with our target group. I don't remember anyone approaching us so far.
