Ask HN: What are the different components of a Smart Home?

I'm building a new house and want to make sure its future proof by adding smart home components. I'm building most of the controls myself or buying them off-the-shelf. While I have figured the obvious components I believe there is much more that could be done. What are your thoughts to make a home smart?

Some of the components I have figured out are;

Switches and dimmers - Using ESP8266 to control relays, dimmer circuits and RGB controls. Think controlling lights and fans using your phone/voice/sensor data.

Doors and windows - Using ESP8266 to control A/C relays, solenoids, hall sensors and motorised pulleys. Think controlling doors and windows.

Sensors Kit - Using ESP32 with conjunction with dust sensor, gas sensors, light sensors, PIR sensors, smoke sensor, IR blaster, RF blaster, temperature sensor, humidity sensor, pressure sensor etc. Get all as much information about your environment and your movements.

Audio Kit - Using ESP8266 and VS1053 and TDA7492P to stream music via WiFi and Bluetooth. Alexa and other voice assistants included. Because Music!

Kitchen scales - ESP8266 with load sensors [weighting scale] to keep weighing things in realtime, all the time. Think auto-ordering LPG/Rice when its low.

Magic Mirror - Mirror with LCD behind it to give me weather and calendar info. Mirror Mirror on the wall who is the smartest of them all?

IP Camera - Camera to monitor stuff. Because security is priority #1. They all communicate with a CHIP computer [$9 computer board] over websockets running an Elixir/Phoenix app which in turn communications with mobile apps made using React Native.

What else makes a Home smart? Please share your thoughts.
