Ask HN: Screenwriting as a side project?

I like writing and I really like TV -- I've been thinking about dipping my feet into screenwriting as a fun side project. I'm curious what avenue anyone in the field (or other amateurs) would recommend as a path given the current landscape?

Is there a LeanPub for screenwriting? What is the MVP? How can I validate if my concept is any good at all?
