It is crazy sir. And it is going away. What we are seeing is nothing but the last gasps of a bunch of angry, old white guys who are not happy that women, People of Color, LBGTQs, immigrants, etc are beginning to enjoy some of the same privileges they've had forever.
The thing I like about Thiel is that he recognizes that there exist people outside of the dozen or so bubbles of prosperity, and that they aren't doing so hot, by and large.

We can rail on about how those people are deplorable, racist sexist, XYZist awful people, or we can try to have a little empathy and realize that things aren't so rosy from where they are standing, and their communities are crumbling, their industries have dried up, their best and brightest are fleeing to the cities to chase what opportunity there is, and despair is on the rise.

Which part Protectionism? Extreme exaggeration, sensationalism or flat out lying? Jumping to conclusions without all the facts? calling everyone and everything corrupt that stands in your way of ultimate power? Being so arrogant as to even suggest you have a better understanding and judgement than all the experts in the field? demanding ultimate devotion and allegiance or he'll go at you with everything he has?

Unfortunately it isn't going away and that's sad for all of us...

Congratulations, republicans on your Pyrrhic victory if you win.
