I think it's relevant. I like browsing the Show HN section to see what kind of stuff people build, and I'm curious about the people building the stuff. I look at things differently when they are made by a high school student vs someone who has been working in the industry for a couple of years. For example, I wouldn't complain that there are lot of similar competing apps when it's clear that this is someone just trying to build their first app...
I would be careful about sharing opinions like this on HN. The Politically Correct crowd on HN will tell you to "stop being a hater"and that you need to demonstrate hopeless optimism and positivity or you can excuse yourself from all discussion.
There is no room in modern discourse for criticism - not when peoples' feelings are at stake.

From the end-users perspective, I guess they still need the app to do this, at which point you could just send two images and no one would know anyway - and it'd save you some time.
