Ignore democratic accountability at your peril. The EU is an institution that has plunged the Greek working classes into poverty, imposed un-elected technocratic rule on Italy, and horribly insulted the plebs of France, Holland and Ireland after they dared to vote against its treaties. I doubt the EU will be around in its present form in ten or twenty years. That's what will be crumbling.
