Ask HN: Does anyone (seriously) plan on leaving the U.S.A. due to Trump?
In reflecting on things, I realized that my time in the USA hasn't been that great. I was cheated out of grades and opportunities while in school (middle school, high school, and even college) (though that could've been more related to being smart, rather than being black) and I noticed that school was mainly about the indoctrination of compliance, being on time, and writing documentation.
When I graduated and began working professionally, I thought things would change, but it essentially continued just as it did during school (all about time, compliance, being miserable, going nowhere, and not doing anything progressive, innovative, or worthwhile).
Even while at the almighty Google, I noticed a lack of time flexibility (right out of line with what they advertise) and many other things.
Strange, but I would've clearly been very relieved by being out of the country (even more than I would know), as the women in Canada (based on OkCupid), for example, seem better quality and more attractive (and less racist/prejudiced), and Canada is very receptive to tech workers.
It's even worse, as I noticed I'd be very unlikely to get any VC funding (if I were to be realistic), mainly due to my ethnicity and having gone to a no-name college. I wouldn't have been the type to seek funding, but it's weird that I wouldn't have been able to get any in either case (especially when I consider why).

[ 2.3 ms ] story [ 17.6 ms ] threadContrary to popular belief, Trump doesn't hate you, nor is he trying to kick out all of the immigrants.
If anything, this campaign should show us just how much mis-information has been purported by the media.
"mainly due to my ethnicity and having gone to a no-name college"
Stop blaming ethnicity on your own inabilities. VC will gladly give you money if they can make a good ROI on your startup/company. They don't really care about race or what college you attended.
