Ask HN: Secure backups under windows?

How do you do them?

Any recommendation matching my wishlist?:

- (local) encryption

- cloud or not, I'm undecided

- incremental backups of selected folders with file changes

- OR high frequency incremental drive image backups

- OR at least staged backups (1 year ago, 1 month ago, 1 week ago, 3.5 days ago)

- system drive image backups (can be unfrequent)

- reminders to plug in my HD

- option to verify backups

- option to browse backup

- preferably an file open format

I tried the windows file history, but can't verify backups, can't encrypt (?), can't do images, miss the subtle reminders, can't backup certain program folders, it's not very transparent, you can't even see whether a backup is in progress...
