Another vote from me for Markus Winand's guides (first two). They are the first place I point people who have the basics down. There are great and amazingly simple discussions about the tradeoffs and design decisions that need to be considered when designing and optimizing a schema, with practical advice and information.
49 books/tutorials/MOOCs in, I was lost. Would I ever learn SQL? Why is learning so easy but finding "top 100" awesome-lists on a topic so hard?! Then, finally, praise Knuth, I found this list with 50 SQL resources. I can finally get started learning the way everyone wants to get started, namely, inundated with an overwhelming number of halfheartedly scraped resources.
