Ask HN: Where can a humble developer find sources for industry trends?

Just to be clear on the question, I'm not talking about the "trivial" things like where are JS frameworks going or will Python 3 ever be popular as the older brother. I'm asking about the core things that the industry is reaching out for and what is the perspective on developing this or that. For example, we "know" that in the next 5 years machine learning is going to blossom, industrial IoT also, data is the new oil, edge computing... But which are the blogs, books or magazines that publish these stuff? The things managers usually talk about before pushing the rest of us to play catch up and beat each other to the market :-) ?
