Ask HN: Any good generic backup solutions?

We need a solution to take backup of very small amount of data, ~20GB per VM.

Our product requires to host data for our clients with geographical limitations and need a generic solution to take backup of data and the most important thing to handle is fast restore time.

Many cloud providers like Google and Amazon have snapshots as easy goto solution for backup but we need it in a format which is general to all our hosted VMs (Cloud, on-premise etc.)

Unfortunately cloud services like Google Cloud and AWS do not provide export of snapshots.

We are good with VM snapshots if it can be exported or simple backup of data with restore capability, Any good ideas?
