Being a public web forum, we really can't REQUIRE anyone to provide anything here, though if advice requesters are inordinately vague, we are free to not reply...

That's why I used "obliged"... I meant in terms of what we should reasonably expect from advice-seekers.

No. This site is about discussion, and the questions are appreciated for the discussions that ensue, not because they are so helpful to the askers

While nobody owes us anything when they seek advice, the quality of advice they receive I feel is related directly to the amount of information they provide.
