Ask HN: Would you buy a more user friendly version of signal?

I recently just cringed at a thread model where a mother was going through their adult children messages with their partners. As one can expect, these are some private messages. I'm cringing at the thought that this was through Signal.

Signal isn't going to implement passcode protection anytime soon for their app. Nor are they going to use fingerprinting.

Signals iOS and Android applications could use some work. The desktop application is a bit painful since it's a Chrome extension.

If I make an open-source EmberJS wrapper around the Open Whisper API would you use it? What features/additions would you want? Would you be OK with paying a $1 fee on the App Store to help the cause or would you prefer to download and build from Github?

Thinking of adding password protection and both figerprinting to a convo. This way your mother who knows your passcode doesn't get past the fingerprint. If the government comes with a court order, they can force you to use fingerpinting, but they can't force you to input a passcode.

There'll also be a second passcode you can set that will, when used, return "invalid passcode", but will behind-the-scenes, delete all of your data and wipe everything. Perfect for hostile situations.
