Exxon's year-end Energy Outlook: 700 quadrillion BTUs by 2040

The world is using about 564 quadrillion BTUs of energy now. That encompasses fuel, electricity, the whole bit minus food consumption. Which, although I'd love to know how much energy we're consuming worldwide by eating, is beyond my humble math skills.
