Ask HN: Why HN don't have any option for following users?

Hacker news is a place you meet people having similar likes and views on several topics. People tend to submit those things which attract that person's mind(except some promotion sort of thing) for ex. I would like some post brought to me by any specific user than the post upvoted by some random people. If some sort of filters can be said to be main reason behind this don't you think the post upvoted by user would be much more interesting to me than the front page? The main reason of any forum is to make people communicate effectively and it seems HN is somewhat barring people to do so. What is the main reason behind not adding this feature along with additional feature of messaging?
