Ask HN: How have you been affected by the recent border ban?
Now that word has reached out that green card holders are affected by the executive order banning entry into the United States from seven Muslim-majority countries (https://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Green-Card-Trump-Executive-Orders/2017/01/28/id/770865/), I'm curious to hear stories that have arisen because of this ban. I get the sense that there is a much greater effect on the technology sector than the media is currently portraying: families being split apart, companies losing key employees/founders to limbo etc.
I am not affected by the ban, but wanted to give those in tech or those part of the larger discussion here who are affected by it a forum because I'm curious how deep it goes, and how this community could help.

[ 4.2 ms ] story [ 17.5 ms ] threadexcept that the order blocks people already approved to be in the US
except that apparently only 1/3rd of 1% of murders in the US are committed by muslims (that's all muslims, so the effect of muslim terrorism is vanishingly small)
"Announcing his “extreme vetting” plan, the president invoked the specter of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Most of the 19 hijackers on the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pa., were from Saudi Arabia. The rest were from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon. None of those countries are on Mr. Trump’s visa ban list."
