Ask HN: Is MBA from top school worth it for mid career boost?

I work for Amazon and have 11 yrs of experience in software development. I am not an SDE anymore, although I stay in touch with technology. My job is in tech family roles only.

I also have project management certification from Stanford University.

I am wondering if MBA would be worth for going into exec management at this stage? I want to get into director/VP role.

It will be 200k cost for doing MBA in 2 years. I am thinking of doing MBA in part time or an EMBA degree. If I go for MBA then, I will have to put down thought of buying house.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone done MBA and got boost in the career? Would it add value to climb higher in career ladder at top tier companies?
