Ask HN: Making Visual Studio 2015 usable as a long-time Xcoder

1 points by kitsunesoba ↗ HN
For as long as I've been programming, I've been using Macs. Very little of my development has taken place under another OS, and what little has was under Linux in a cross-platform editor (Sublime). The bulk of it has been in Xcode developing for Apple platforms. This is probably pretty unusual.

I'm now developing a native cross-platform side project, and this has me using Visual Studio 2015 to write the Windows-specific portions of the project. This in itself isn't much of an issue, but VS has me absolutely bewildered. Practically nothing is where you'd find it in Xcode and some of its design decisions make no sense to me (two separate three-key shortcuts for commenting and uncommenting lines vs Xcode's single two-key comment toggle shortcut for example) and so now I'm trying to figure out ways to make VS more productive for me.

Does HN have any tips/tricks? Google yields virtually nothing on the subject but gives pages upon pages of results for those looking for the reverse (making Xcode more like Visual Studio).
