Ask HN: Startup international employee hiring

Has anyone had experiences hiring someone from another country to work fulltime at a startup? We are a c-corp with a name brand lawyer, but before I ask them, I am interested in learning what issues other people have faced dealing with stock grants, taxes etc. in these situations.
