Ask HN: Moving to US / Visa

I'm a French entrepreneur, currently living in Finland. My company is based in Finland, and was started in 2006. We've already raised money from investors in other European countries.

I'm looking to move to San Francisco, to do bizdev, possibly raise VC, but also because I love the culture / people there :)

Does anyone have experience with moving this way? What type of visa did you apply for? How long did it take? I was recommended an L-1 visa, plus setting up a daughter company in the US.

What is the status of the startup visa?
