Ask HN: How to get your hardware idea to market quickly?

Say I have an idea for a hardware. So far here are my steps but I'm missing the part where you get your stuff made in China.

1. Create diagrams.

2. File provisional patent

3. Get domain and website setup with Stripe.

4. Incorporate & Create Kickstarter Campaign

5. Find manufacturer in China

6. Get stuff made? How? Where? When? Who? How much?

So far it looks like I'm going the Kickstarter route but want to make sure I'm covering all the necessary items.

The biggest mystery is the cost and margins of getting somebody in China to manufacture it.
