Never heard of this website before but I do wish more people had the same general thought, including those in media so we could get a much better press.

I find I have to do even more research after reading an article just to find out whats being omitted etc than ever.

The actual 'credibility' is at an all-time high. Today's mass media is better, in terms of adherence to the truth, diversity, and creativity than at any point in time.

What is in crisis is the opinion people have. For some reason, hating journalists and their work has become the last unifying cause.

It may actually a positive change that, like 'science' has, through repeated attack, been cast as an exclusively Democratic domain, the same may happen with journalism now.

I'm not sure how you would go about backing up a statement like this. It doesn't pass the eye test to me.

I think you could definitely say that mass media is bigger, and within it there are pockets of excellent journalism that have the features you describe.

But these standouts are far too easily drowned in a glut of misinformation, editorializing, listicles, and so on. And so it becomes really easy to dismiss 'the media' when 'the media' is far from a homogeneous industry. Even certain websites aren't homogeneous - I don't know that your average reader would know the difference between BuzzFeed and BuzzFeed News, for example.

Can you cite any sources for that?

There have been many national polls from reputable organizations stating the contrary.

For example:

Polls that show we're at a low point

Gallup:

Polls that show Trump is considered more trustworthy than "The Media"

Polls that show the media is more trustworthy than Trump, but still far below the all time high

Perhaps where your from it is, but the corporate news media in the USA just literally burned all of their remaining credibility backing the wrong horse in the presidential election. They cheated for her, outright lied for her, and covered for her failings. The people here saw it, and the ones not watching through rose colored glasses now rightly now distrust the media even more than before.

To say "hating journalists and their work has become the last unifying cause" and attempting to paint journalists as the victim is disingenuous at best. They made their bed, now they're mad that they have to lie in it.

Tu Quoque fallacy in full effect. There is no single mainstream media - there are several outlets including the fawning Fox, Breitbart etc. but there is one government of which President Trump is the head.
