Ask HN: What will be the short/long term fallout of the recent CIA leaks?

1 points by wu-ikkyu ↗ HN
The recent CIA leaks are said to be the biggest leak ever of secret CIA documents.

Some say these leaks are extremely detrimental to US national security.

At the same time, the vulnerabilities exposed in the documents will now (hopefully) be patched leading to increased security for the average user.

Others have noted[1] that many of the detailed application level exploits are rudimentary compared to other OS/kernel rootkits.

With all this in mind, what will be the short and long term fallout of these leaks in regards to the average user, the United States/CIA, other countries around the world, and IT security in general?
