Good E-Ink Based E-Reader for Technical PDF Docs

With the discontinuation of the Kindle DX, Amazon's only E-Ink reader offerings are 6", which is too small for dual column technical documents like IEEE proceedings, text books and dissertations. I strongly prefer E-Ink as i do not want to worry about battery life ever, and more importantly I want to force myself to focus on reading and not be distracted by the internet.

However it is pricey!

Even though it is listed on Sony's website, none of the vendors on Sony's website has any in stock, and CDW lists it as discontinued as of January 2017.

(I checked B&H, Amazon, and CDW.)

Not sure how well it works, but have you tried converting the PDFs to the Kindle native format for more native text flow?
