FileNgin is a start-up company. Our product, FileNgin.com, provide a higher level of data protection to consumers. We use AES-256 CBC encryption to encrypt all files. What is unique about out product is that we utilize user password for key derivation. This use of an unique key for each user guarantees protection against data breach at large scale.

A widespread practice in the industry is to encrypt files using a master key owned by the data storage provider. I.e Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and DropBox. This method is much cheaper and less prone to problems since the encryption is somewhat unified. But it is more vulnerable to data hijacking.

Problem with systems such as Google Drive and DropBox is that provider and anyone the provider willing to share the key have access to your data. We see this as a weak point in data protection. Our goal is to remove this centralize master key design and embrace user specific keys to encrypt each user’s files uniquely.

With growing number of data breaches and events where governments performing large scale information surveillance, it is important to keep your confidential data encrypted.
