If you suffer from depression, educate yourself about what LSD and psilocybin can do for you. Of interest should be Fadiman's book, Stan Grof's work and all relevant reddit and erowid based communities.
EDIT: Dear downvoters and fear pushers, I want people to educate themselves. If you choose for yourselves to remain ignorant, you may do so, but don't push that unhealthy attitude onto others.
Really? The NYT says that claim is based on flawed studies. [0] It also seems pretty dumb to take medication advice from random people on the Internet esp. when there are a lot of things you could try before illegal drugs like getting more sleep or more exercise.
You don't need to push LSD in every single thread that mentions depression. Especially in a thread about Zimbabwe, which has the death penalty for some drug offences.
It's interesting how happiness works. Think your situation is bad? In Zimbabwe unemployment is something like 80-90%. However this article proves even in situations like this, something simple like friendship can make you happy!
Uganda is almost as bad, youth unemployment is 84% and many graduate students leave university with little chances of employment. Families expect money after paying their university, so graduates are too shamed to return to their home without money in hand, thus end up living in one of the Kampala slums with a group of other graduates.
Having lived in Zimbabwe for almost three years, I'd say that while the average American is better off financially, the average Zimbabwean is happier with their lives. Close knit families and friends seem to be the big reason why.
