Ask HN: Anyone getting good money in Europe working on non-enterprise code?
I'm wondering if it's possible to get salaries which are in any way comparable to the UK enterprise devs contract market (meaning 300+ take home pounds per day, more in London) when doing something more technical and/or mathematical/algorithmic - like signal processing, CAD, Graphics, embedded? I've been scanning job ads for months and it looks like those kinds of jobs in the UK never pay above 60k pounds per year (and that's a high end), which is around half of the enterprise contractor's pay. I am asking because I'd be curious to switch to work like that, but having to take literally 50-75% pay cut is just too much for me.
