Indexes of Indexes and Indices of Indexes

My OCD is proposing that an individual key should never be called "an index", but it is ok to call a handful of them "indices". It is not ok to call a handful of indexes "indices" unless those indexes are themselves indexable by a super-index. The singular of indices should perhaps be "indice" or an "indie".
