Ask HN: How to accept credit-cards for side project outside US

I have a side-project that I'm working on with the plan to monetize via subscriptions (in the range of $1-5/month). I don't have a company and am located outside of the US (in Israel - I am a US citizen, but not working from there.. not sure if it matters/how it works.)

I'm new to this business-side of things am I'm not sure where to start. Do I need to be a company? Paypal might be an option but I don't want to require my users to use paypal accounts and I've had bad experiences with them.

I'm looking for any suggestions/tips/stories that might help. Thanks!
