Ask HN: Will I encounter a glass ceiling in ML research without a Ph.D.?

I obtained a Master's degree in computer vision about half a year ago and I am currently employed as a senior machine learning researcher at a giant tech corporation.

I was able to land the job mainly because of my nearly 4.0 GPA and long experience with software engineering.

However, now I am worried that since I skipped Ph.D. education (in my country it is necessary to obtain Master's before Ph.D.), I might have problems to further advance my career, because nearly all of my colleagues are Ph.Ds.

Are any of you in a similar situation? I hope that in the future my work experience and publication track, will be far more relevant for my career than a Ph.D. would be, but I have some doubts still.
