Ask HN: Have you moved on from IT?

I've recently started the move from a more technical role to management role in my organization. I wanted to do this because I wanted to make a bigger impact on what decisions were made for our company especially in the IT space where costs were becoming astronomical because of poor decision making.

Has anyone else made this move too? If so what was your reason? or even moved back to IT from management? Just curious to see what other people views were on these kinds of problems.
