Come on. This post is a waste of time. Arguing that the start up economy is going to suffer due to the release of an "awesome" video game = true waste of time.
Luckily Blizzard is saving startups by making Battle.net 2.0 unusable. The "social" features (facebook integration) are just a way of allowing your boss to see how much time you spend playing, the absence of LAN is a countermeasure to the "we have to check something in the storage room" excuse, the absence of chat rooms makes it so much more difficult to pretend you are typing away at that important document, the list goes on.
The Chinese version of the game will have all of these features, Starcraft 2 is just a conspiracy to get the US back ahead.
Heh, what value is lost in work will be regained by so many people enjoying themselves so thoroughly. What is value if not enjoyment and happiness? I for one am more eager for Civ 5 though.
I'm not very interested in Starcraft 2, but I can guarantee my productivity is going to go to zero for a week or so after Fallout: New Vegas comes out this fall.
I don't even want to think about what'll happen once Civ 5 ships... Hopefully I'll temporarily get bored with it after a month or so.
