North American Universities that focus on teaching instead of research?

I am a mid-career scientist who is getting fed up with publish-or-perish. I dont' want to publish in second-tier or less venues and don't have the energy to deal with the randomness of the review process at top-tier conferences. I have worked at top-tier industrial research labs during my decade long research career. Is there a path for me in academia without focusing on research? I.e. I'd love to make a living doing pure teaching. Can anyone from that world comment? When I looked at job posts previously, a lot of them asked for teaching statements, etc. These things I lack since I don't have an active career in teaching. Thoughts?
