OMFG! I can't believe they advertise this article with an "unbelievable price" but won't write what they price is. They make you watch the 6+ minute video for a price, which I tried to skim for one, to no avail.
So I google searched it. It's $354.99.
Don't blog like this, people. It's ridiculous to send people on wild goose chases for information.
I agree that not including the price in the article is silly.
At the same time - the price is one click away in the liliputing article linked below the video. They also tell you to visit the link to get the price, no video-watching necessary. Hardly a 'wild goose chase'.
This is a run-of-the-mill gadget blog by bad writers. Unless I was super enthralled by the product, say, a new iphone (shudder) or something, all I want is the statistics. I skim for those. I don't read each sentence with exacting precision. A disproportionately sized link hidden in what looks like an unrelated section (in terms of design) make this a hard-to-follow, hard-to-be-informed-by read.
Aspiring bloggers take note, this is not good blogging.
This form-factor/resolution is in the range that I'm not sure I'd ever use it over my phone. I'm really waiting for something like the Notion Ink is supposed to be - especially with the Pixel Qi screen (if that turns out to be as good as they claim, anyway).
The price is decent, but not as impressively amazing as the blog / title makes it sound like. It's about in line with a the similarly spec'ed phones if you assume it's probably a little bit cheaper to build bigger.
It won't be long, the iPad and iPhone is mostly built from standard components, ARM chips, the Samsung Hummingbird SoC (or a very close relative) etc.
If you've been looking for an ARM "smartbook" you'll have noticed that they are frighteningly thin and have amazing battery life. Unfortunately the inability to run Windows meant no-one was prepared to sell them. This year all those exact same smartbook systems are back, this time minus the keyboard and running Android.
edit: just to be clear, that last line isn't metaphorical, the product demonstrators at thing like Computex are saying this is the exact same hardware as our smartbooks we've been previewing but in a tablet form factor.
