Ask HN: Why does instagram think I'm Irish?

Most of the Instagram paid posts I see are basically regional ads for Irish people. The prices are all in Euros, etc. I'm American and live in Los Angeles. Has this happened to other people? Given Facebook/Instagram's relative sophistication in these matters, how could this go so wrong (and yet be so specific)?
