Ask HN: Hello World- Rising from the Ashes

1 points by Nikspatel007 ↗ HN
Hello HackerNews, Yesterday, I wrote my first medium blog post. I shared it with my friends and got a suggestion that I should post it on Hacker News. I read from HN every day, so it sounded like a great idea.

Very happily, I tried to submit my first post here.I put a title and link to my medium blog post and as soon as I hit submit, I got a message

"Stop spamming us, you are wasting your time."

I did not know what to do, so I naturally started typing what just happened to me.

Can I ask you guys to read my blog post and give me a feedback on it? Here is the link

Also, Why did HN think I was spamming?

To be completely honest: Nobody on HN cares about your first blog post. Well..most won't but some may say congrats.

People come here for technical discussions or for gathering around a new piece of tech being released.

Your first blog post is more for Twitter while your first open source project would be great for HN.

That's helpful. I was more under the impression that someone will help me how to get better at conveying my thoughts as I get into blogging tech I have learned. Does that mean I should avoid putting anything on HN as long as it is not related to new tech or about the code?

From the HN Guide

What to Submit:

On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity.

Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.

I just looked at your blog post and it reads like nonsensical garbage.
wow, That's a shocker. Thank you for your honest feedback. How can I improve it so that it is not nonsensical garbage anymore (and next time)?
I think he might be commenting on the fact that it's a blog post...about a blog post.
hmm, That's an interesting perspective. I just wrote that as a way to focus on getting started vs. getting sucked into making it the best thing before anyone gets to see it. You are correct though. It is a blog post about (writing a first) blog post.
