This is the third thread to hit the front page, which sheds some light both on Maryam's significance in mathematics as well as on her popularity among the HN readership.
Why? Would her life be any more or less significant with a minor change to the stylesheet of a fringe web forum, or less without?
Memorial threads here are bad enough (although in this case obviously on topic and I won't be protesting too hard), but the pointless value signaling of demanding a black bar to validate a person's death needs to stop. The only thing the black bar does is contribute to arguments about whether and why someone is black-bar worthy or not.
