Ask HN: US Health coverage for non-citizen/resident founder

As an unmarried, non-US citizen/resident founder on a work visa in California, I have had a hard time navigating health insurance in America (surprise surprise). Are there others in a similar position with experience? Options? Tradeoffs? Most others I know are either permanent residents (green card) giving them Medi-Cal or ACA coverage or married to someone working at a BigCorp that provides health insurance for the family.

We do not have company provided insurance as the rest of my team has affordable insurance. What are other international unmarried founders doing for health insurance in the US?
