Ask HN: How do you estimate remotely

Hello, I have a question to all the developers here who work mostly remote in a software development team and have to estimate some kind of work.

How do you do it? Like what is your actual way of estimating together. I ask because we think about recruit someone who will work with us only from home and I was questioning myself on how we would do estimation.
