Ask HN: Does a functional style makes python hobby coding more fun?

I'm an hobbyist python programmer , coding after work, so the major thing i'm looking for is fun, minimizing the amount of annoying stuff(like bugs) and reducing mental effort while still being able to create.

Do you feel that doing stuff more functionally(as in functional programming) in python helps with those things ? How ?
