Retro AI fiction – The Adolescence of P-1 (1977)

I read The Adolescence of P-1 in the late 70s, again in the early 80s and most recently a couple of months ago after re-discovering it.

It's still a good read after all these years.

Does anyone know anything about the author Thomas J. Ryan? Is it a pseudonym? Searches don't turn up much.
