Ask HN: What should my next career move be?
I work for a big company in the US in the Deep-learning space. I've done ML all my life. I write lots of high-performance C++ code now. I love it. But I'm no longer inspired by our vision. I'm planning my next career move.
Here are the constraints:
1. I prefer not to work on text or speech. That rules out a majority of options.
2. I am learning Deep RL and I can see working in that space.
3. I don't have a good publication record (I have Masters in CS from a not-so-bad university). But I'm a researcher at heart.
4. I shine on V1 projects. When we are doing something brand new. Greenfield development.
5. Making incremental improvements sucks the life out of me.
6. I have a life outside of work. So, I prefer sane working hours.
7. I want to change the world. I don't like this one.
8. I want to start leading people. (I don't now). I just realized that I'm good at that.
What kind of companies, projects, roles would you recommend?
