Ask HN: Is NLP a good specialization for freelancing?

I'm currently working in a startup on a project which heavily depends on NLP and ML. I want to eventually go back to freelancing/consulting (I was a freelancer earlier on my career, mainly webdev) but I don't know if I could get enough work to do if I specialize in NLP. Applying NLP previously requires a dataset, and the data being a valuable resource for any company, maybe they prefer to keep this kind of work inside.

Do you know anyone in this path, doing something similar?
