Ask HN: How do I move from an entry level SE job to contracting remotely?

I'm a young Software Engineer who has been working in the healthcare field for about 3 years. At some point in the near future, I would like to move into contracting remotely. I have experience working in a full-stack dev role, with an emphasis on cloud infrastructure.

My question is this: How should I go about making connections and getting my first contracts?
