Ask HN: Is there a registrar whose TOS *doesn't* forbid hate groups?

GoDaddy and Google have both refused to have Daily Stormer's domain name registered in their systems. Now Zoho is going to stop providing services to them as well -- as they all should.

But, shouldn't ALL service providers (at least in the US) have a TOS that prevents hate groups? The options must be quite limited.

If you want a totally controlled and monitored internet, then yes they should all ban them, but if you want true freedom online and the ability to say things without being taken offline for simply saying something then no they should not be removed.

They will find a new home whether anyone wants them to or not.

It is quite scary the power some of these large companies have over the freedom of information.

Is there a good reason why they're not using Russian registrars?

Do you honestly think Apple will allow Nazi apps in their app store? I don't see why Google would want to damage the brand by supporting Nazis.

Can't say that I agree with Daily Stormer, but I certainly disagree in refusing them service just because you don't agree with them.

If what they publish is legal, they should be able to register a domain name like everyone else.

“Hate groups” is a vague and dangerous label to base policy on, but most commercial services probably prohibit use of their service for inciting/advocating violence, which is the explicit basis of the GoDaddy decision and likely the basis of the others.

I should have articulated my original post in this manner and not what I wrote. Thanks for the clarification.
