Ask HN: Is it becoming difficult to get hired past 30?
I am just wondering if anyone else shares the same experience. I have 10+ years of software development experience including 3+ years in leadership roles. I am working on all latest hot technologies such as hadoop/pig/hive/spark etc.
I think it is a bit easier to go into roles such as software engineer, data analyst, BI engineer etc. However,I am finding it a bit hard to transition to managerial type roles. I am already leading a team of 5 engineers, but work us ultra boring. Most of senior management is utterly clueless and have focus on things that are not important. It's always fire in the east and fire brigade in the west.
For the record, I work for one of the big 4 tech companies. My organization moves damn slow and I am bored to death with political correctness.
Please suggest what steps should I take to get a managerial job at high performing companies who move very fast.
