A good way to learn how to interact on HN is to participate as a member before using it for promotion. So far you haven't taken the time to do that, and it can rub people the wrong way, particularly as you're promoting yourself as a branding strategist. One would hope a branding strategist would understand the importance of getting to know the community it wants to interact so as to not make mistakes when it wants to do so. There's plenty of self-promotion on HN, and to do it effectively takes some degree of finesse.
I beg to differ :) About the finesse, I mean. I posted a link, and it brought massive traffic and subscriptions to my blog — no finesse was needed. Then I asked my colleague to post another link. My fault is I did not warn him about the community rules regarding titles. But I wrote the admins and fixed it as soon as I became aware of this. In the meantime I found a way to give back to the community. And you're shooting me down for it?
