Bytes and Bio- suggestions for short science videos on bioinformatics?
Hi HN, on a whim I recently made a short video for a "science communication" contest about how big data/data science is relevant to biology. This was something that was pretty easy to give an overview for a general audience in the 2-3 minute span that most people spend watching videos on "social" platforms. The video did well in that first contest, and I'd like to try to turn it into a series. As a former professional bioinformaticist and current graduate student, I spend much of my time in the "weeds" of bioinformatics, and I'm having some trouble coming up with additional topics that can be explained simply but without being superficial. I think that maybe going for some very common study methodologies (such as GWAS, genome-wide association study) could be interesting and probably haven't been covered very frequently by others. Any suggestions or other ideas?
My first video, "Bytes and Bio: Big Data in Biomedical Research", is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YSO4NCqRfM (Full disclosure: this is also part of the 2017 ASU Science Showcase Video Contest)
